Dr. Antoinette Smith, PhD, CPA is an accomplished educator, researcher, author, and international speaker with expertise in audit, fraud, and information systems. She holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Christopher Newport University. Currently, she is an Associate Professor at Florida International University and serves on the board of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy. In 2017, she was recognized as one of Miami’s Top Black Educators and inducted into President Rosenberg’s Inaugural Leadership Program.

Dr. Smith’s research has been published in several reputable academic journals, including the Journal of Information Systems, International Journal of Production Economics, and Research in Accounting Regulation. Her research has also been featured in The Wall Street Journal. Dr. Smith is the editor of Accounting Information Systems journal and is passionate about educating and inspiring the next generation of accounting and finance leaders.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Smith is also an entrepreneur and owns several successful businesses. She is a sought-after international speaker and has delivered presentations on various accounting and finance topics to audiences around the world. Dr. Smith is committed to creating innovative ways to educate and inspire her students and stays up-to-date with the latest accounting technologies by attending faculty development consortiums sponsored by the Big 4 accounting firms. Dr. Smith is a faculty advisor for the National Association of Black Accountants student chapter at FIU and works closely with PhD candidates to help them make critical life decisions and develop their professional image.
